front coilover LB rate

hi all
can anyone advise a ballpark figure for front coilover spring rates?
ive pretty much made all the bracketry, the lower mount will be bolted to the top arm shock bount to give an idea or ratio
im aware a few mk3s run front coilovers so would be good to hear any feedback altough i dont know how the mk3 compares to the mk4 in terms of weight ?
the rears will be a bit more complex as im using bell cranks but if anyone has a figure for that also it would be a good starting point for calculations

Hi, Check the Mini forums, it's a common mod on the mini. With regards to the rear on my Mk3 I started with 140 and after three spring changes ended up with 90's. Still too hard very little suspension movement, So I'm going to fit 80's on my Mk1 with 60 pound helper springs. Then stiffen it up with damper settings. When I had 90's on the Mk3 convertible I could not put any resistance on the dampers at all.
Just had a thought with regards to the front, why not look at the axle rating and divide by two . Its a start!
With the springs at £50 to £60 a pair it can get expensive if you have to experiment as I did.

Just read on the 16v min forum. For Rover k series conversion. They recommend 400 to 550 pound springs.
