Not another noise!

When I reverse slowly up my steep driveway I'm getting a creaking or grinding noise from the front. Any ideas? Both lower ball joints have recently been replaced.

I get it too on my Mk3 though I'm also turning at the same time so I think it's the tyre rubbing on the wheel arch. Both of us need to get someone to stand and listen whilst we reverse to identify what it is I think..... So how about meeting up and doing some reverse slalom

Probably gearbox issue. Could also be a dry clutch bearing, but you would notice it getting worse while using the clutch.

a knocking sound while reversing on full lock could well be a worn cv outer joint.

I don't get any noises on lock, and it sounds most un-gearbox-like. I'm now wondering if it's something to do with my recently fitted new exhaust system. I'm just going to monitor the situation...

Just found my knocking noise was nothing to do with the exhaust, but one of the anti roll bar bushes. They look fairly straightforward to replace - unless you know better?

So no problems, then? I didn't realise those bushes are actually nylon, not rubber

I would, but my Alpine has now developed a strange noise, and I can't cope with more than one at a time!
