Looking at the corrosion on that front subframe I should imagine most of the metal components on the car resemble Swiss cheese. I wonder how the loom and electrical connections have fared. My MK2 had been carefully dry stored for 20+ years yet the electrical connections still took a battering. :(

Yes, the newness has certainly worn off a lot of the components.
Surprisingly, around half of the electrical equipment was still functioning when I first got it.

Here's a couple of pix of what a 4x4 Monster Midas might look like!!

Engine strip down has revealed various strange substances, particularly in the thermo housing.......yuk!!

Engine itself looks fine, water jacket clear, hopefully a good honing and decoke will see it running.

Engine now running....briefly....seems to be ok :D :D
