Midas theft (attempted)
Midas theft (attempted)
Watch out, watch out, there's a Midas thief about. Went for a short run in the Excelsior yesterday and noticed that some of the poppers on the hood had been undone. I presume that the sight of the steering wheel lock deterred them from going further. Went to go out in the Mark 1 today. When I unlocked the car, I noticed that the steering column shrouds had been removed, but the screws put back in place, the 4 wires cut off the back of the ignition switch and the insulation on them pared back. The handbrake was off, but the car was relocked.
Needless to say, there is now a disc lock on the steering wheel.
Bit of work now required before NEC in March.

Possibly, or just that they wanted to cannibalise the car for the Mini parts and saw up the body. In the Quantum world saloons and 2=2's are now being bought to keep XR2i's on the road.

Wow that's bad news.
I'm glad you've still got the cars safe and sound.
Where did it happen? Both the same place?

Both cars live on the drive in front of the house.

I think the Disclok is deterring them, or the thoughts I am transmitting wishing them a slow and painful death
