Well, nearly six years after buying the Mk2, and having never driven one, I finally got it away for MOT.

Failed on emissions....didn't think it was new enough to require such nonsense! So, out with the colourtune, hopefully I'll be road legal tomorrow!

Here's a picture or two......

And it's an absolute hoot to drive!! :D

Should be great on these empty Highland roads.

Looking good. Emissions is only a visual check on a kit car. You used to be able to read the MOT testers manual, however it now asks you to register to read them.

Ok here are the details, section 8.2 of the manual. Altered from the last time I looked.

For emissions purposes only you should treat the following as first used before 1 August 1975:

kit cars and amateur built vehicles first used before 1 August 1998
Wankel rotary engined vehicles first used before 1 August 1987
Q plated vehicles
To prevent the build-up of fumes, the test should be carried out in a well-ventilated area.

C0 <=4.5%
HC <=1200ppm

Thanks, Stuart

To be fair, it was running somewhat rich, and I had failed to replace the wee pipe from the under side of the air filter housing to the carb inlet manifold, I couldn't remember what went on there, so I had it plugged up!

Made a big difference.

Sounds sweeter, too, so hopefully all good.

All sorted, emissions way under target now.

Will be taxed 1st Sept and then we're off.
