I was wondering why you wanted to move away from the Image wheels.

Yes although the 3 piece splits are pretty to look at in the end they are not robust enough in my opinion. Was a bit annoying to see some of them buckled. Pity as I had the rims anodised too to avoid the mess on the outside rim like you get with one piece alloys. My RFX look great in the centres but the outsides have the usual pitting under the clear coat.

I guess it depends on the rim and which car PCD. I got a price for 5 new wheels and tyres and it came in relatively cheap as all my tyres are shot with age anyway. I suppose minilights are common so can be had for a good price.

I'm looking at 175x50x13 tyres. I seem to recall this combination should just about fit shouldnt it.

I've just had a set of 5 refurbished for the Libra. came to just under £100 each. They have done a fantastic job, but, were they available, I could have had a set of Team Dynamics for around the same.

Yes thats the thing isnt it Rich. Crying shame that its cheaper to buy new than have refurbed (if the wheel you want is available). A bit of a no brainer for me.

They'll fit easily, I ran them on my Mk3. Other options are the 165/60x13 or 175/60x13, however these sizes are now limited to lesser known tyre brands. Not that there is much choice with the 50 series ones either.

I was quoted £58 a tyre for some nankang AS1's on 175x50x13 - Alternatively theres the yokohamas but they are like £98 or so.

Yes those wheels are cheap as chips and unless you're aiming for an original look a no-brainer from a cost perspective. I have four Mk3 RFX's sadly badly kerbed by a previous owner/owners.

When I first got the convertible back in early 1990s I was a bit anal about having the Compomotive MS wheels, as per the red factory car. Since that time though I guess I have modified the car beyond anything factory... so has become less important now. Plus I learned to live with the foibles of the convertible, which to be honest was less of a mature build than the coupe ever was in my opinion. Window winders in particular were awful. Alistair did a nice job of correcting that issue with the Mk2 window frames.

Finding decent aftermarket wheels in MGF fitting is a bit of a challenge.
