Early Mk1s

Post by 1380Pete »

Hi All,

I am interested in Midas mark 1s. It may be on this site, but does anyone know what the production figures are for each year :?: . My particular vice is Historic rallying and you need a car pre 1981. The Midas looks like it would be perfect, the problem being getting one 1978/1979/1980/1981 registered.
I am used to rare cars, now on my second Clan, but am put off by the extortionate cost of Imp bits
Any thoughts on how easy it would be to find an early Midas would be appreciated. Have also been looking at Mini-Marcos options but now getting impossible to find. :o

Thanks,
Pete.

From '78 to '81 66 mk1's were built. There was recently a very nice one for sale strangely registered as Morris:

Hi Pete,

Welcome to the forum.

I hope you manage to find the car you want.

Hopefully there will be plenty of opportunity on here.

There must be some early 80 mk1's sitting around somewhere.............

Kind regards,

David

The cut off for Historics is '81? Now I feel old!

I used to navigate on historics years back in the old Practical Classics Rapier (KHG 474), they were still keeping the Escorts out then with the age restrictions.

Thanks for the quick answer :!:
I had not realised how few were made  -hate to think how few are actually running now :(

Plan B would be to look for a Mk 3 coupe of course-that has always looked like a superb car. :P
