Holiday Snaps

Post by Jon »

I've just got back from a week in Scotland with the Midas. In twenty-one years of Midas ownership I have never taken a Midas away for a week's holiday as I have always had too much gear, too many people to take, and easy access to a sensible car. This year it was only me and my camping and hill walking kit, and with no sensible car available without hiring one, there was no excuse not to use the plastic rollerskate. According to my GPS I covered a total of 1114 miles in seven days at an average speed of 53.1 mph. I haven't filled the tank since I got back, but over the first 871 mile the fuel consumption was just over 46 mpg.

Here's a few snaps of some great views, but for some reason always with that funny little car in the way:

Sitting in a queue for roadworks isn't so bad with this sort of scenery, not that there was much of a queue early on a Friday morning

Great pictures Jon.

I enjoy driving up the western side of Scotland. Its a beautiful place to take a car. Caledonian canal is great too.

I recognize that car park at Lochaber (Loch Linnhe). My dad parked his boat other side of that rail LOL.

Amazing pictures, I really enjoyed them. I was up there, late 2009, to retrieve a Domino Pimlico, for my Nephew (his first car!) We really should have a collective Midas trip up there. I was gobsmacked by the scenery! Maybe our Dutch colleagues might like to view a few hills! Ours was a whistle stop tour dash up there collect the car and back home, but it was awesome!

The roads as well as the scenery!
This reminds me that I have not taken the Midas up the road to Glencoe (Yet).
Living in Glasgow, it is not really that far, I must get out more (To quote Alan D).

I'm glad you all like the pictures. Of course the scenery gets even more impressive if you get away from the roads and nip up into the hills.

I've got a little Subaru Justy on the drive... there's some potential there.
