primary gear bearing

Does anyone have a secret they're willing to share as to how to keep the primary gear from binding on the crank?
I've had new bushes installed, line bored to the correct tolerances, the end float was on the ever so slightly conservative side of ideal, I put a dab of cam lube on the bushes to help them spin before the oil could lubricate them. And yet still I can't select a gear when the engine has warmed up.
Am getting really cheesed off with this!

Thanks Stuart, I'd heard of that idea, the people selling the floating bush concept are the only voices on the subject I've heard, just wondered if anyone else had any opinions on the floating bush, or any other method.

I took the plunge and installed the floating bush. What a difference! My problems are solved (at least for now).
It's so easy to slip into any gear, no matter what the revs, or the temperature (if you've had primary gear problems, you'll understand the relevance of these statements).
I heartily recommend the conversion to all with an A series engine.

Ideal clearances for bushes are 0.0045 to 0.005" and soak the completed gear in engine oil for 48 hours before fitting.

This should solve your issues.

Thanks AC, am glad to report that I've had over 12 months trouble free motoring with this floating bush, so can confidently say (with fingers ever crossed) that it works.
