Well actually you can!

There are 3D printers available which build models up from resin. They are called rapid prototype machines like this one:

If you want to see an interesting car made using a large CNC machine take a look at http://dpcars.aprsworld.com/. The plug for the original DP1 was made on a giant of a machine, the latest DP4 has been made with a much more modest machine.
