It seems to be one thing after another at the moment...
I've got this knock.. it started last night when the car was on the over run, a light tapping that varied with speed and could be felt through the steering. It goes away when cruising but is now getting worse, particularly when cornering. It's present when the car is moving only and is still there if I knock it into neutral when moving.
I'm thinking wheel bearing, CV joint or pot joint?

Re: knocking
I had that Rich on my convertible a couple of years ago. I thought it was one of the CV's but it turned out to be a wheel bearing...unusual sound for a bearing I though as they usually whine or screetch a bit first. The way I would describe this one was like it was like a motorboat sound. You can actually hear it on one of the youtube videos I did a couple of years ago. Really annoying until it was fixed. Particularly as I had just changed to coils at front.
Usually CVs are noticeable on full steering lock at slow speeds. Inner CV's dont tend to go that often (unless boot has gone) as the angle is a lot less acute.

Re: knocking
I must admit the bearing was at the top of my list as I'm also getting a rumbling on the over run at higher speeds. As long as it isn't gearbox related I'm reasonably happy as the last thing I want to do right now is pull the engine.
Re: knocking
I've slipped the car into the garage at work and taken the wheel off in my break. The R clip I used instead of a split pin has sheared and the hub nut loosened enough to make it all rattle. I've bodged it back together for now and will sort it on Tuesday when I have a day off.
Re: knocking
I hope it's a bit tigher now
Re: knocking
thats the problem with them front hub nuts. I wang mine back on with a windy gun and some.
Rears are not held with split pins (no holes for split pins anyway). They are held on with threadlock.
At least its an easy fix!
