Sold for £605, I wonder if we'll hear from the buyer?

...until the last 10 seconds, I was the highest bidder. It would have been my second Midas - I built a Bronze in 1985 which I ran for about 9 years, but always fancied the Gold.
It wasn't that I didn't think it was worth more than that, just that I'd bid to the limits of my funds. In addition to which, that would only be a down payment towards a running car; complete (technically) it may be, but there's a lot of work to be done, according to the seller.
Good fun for someone, though! And I intend to keep looking for a Gold, but I'm in no hurry.

It's probably Alan up in Newcastle, he's buying up the world stock of Midas cars all for himselffaceofdoh wrote:Well...

Some say they make a good garden gnome and are great for growing tomatoes in
Re: Gold coupe restoration project
Still a disappointing price for such a clever car. I see GTM rossa's fetching more money. Apparently if the engine is in the back, people think it's a sportscar and are prepared to pay more. The Midas Gold coupe is a much smarter package, good trunk space and room inside, great road holding, more aerodynamic etc. But somehow they are not worth much. I think when the new owner spends another 600 on interior and tech bits, he has a small supercar for no money at all. Unbelievable.

Re: Gold coupe restoration project
Just to allay the rumours, it's not me! The price was right, but too far away. The problem I have is; I have two Mk 3's: a coupé and a convertible with no registration's, both of which are being developed! I will have in time a Mk1, a Mk2 and my cream convertible for sale. Hopefully leaving me with just Mk'3's (coupé and convertible)!
That is my story and I'm sticking to it!!
