Ballista headlamps

Post by manifold »

Looking at the Ballista headlamps got me thinking it would be dead easy to make this kind of light with a ring around it fit in the headlamp pod...
without a lot of faffing about.

Hi David,

This could be your base light, with a nice annular ring turned in stainless or aluminium ( or for David titanium). It would be a much simpler job than trying to fit two lights! It would also go well with the curvy shape of the Mk 3.

Here is another interesting set of lights

Another idea for the Mk1 & 2

But nicely glassed in

Is there anybody in our group who is a Photoshop expert? It would take out the guessing!

Hi Alan,

Thats exactly what I am thinking.....something along those lines for both sets of lights, but integrated sympathetically into the body so its not cut up.

These lights have a lot less foot print at the back (where it matters for engine conversions) and can be easily fitted on a plate fixed to the existing mounting points on the car (so it can be reversed if necessary)

Ha ha Titanium..... Ally/stainless is good enough I think. Would look great with a ally ring and socket headed bolts like the MGF filler cap.

I thought a ballista was some sort of Roman siege engine...

Was the Ballista not born as an Larini? Based upon a VW Golf? Later it was purchased by GTM, to be a new 'supercar', but that failed...
