Midas Gold in parts

Post by Hans Efde »

Here's an ad for a stripped car, probably a Bronze. Question is if this car can be saved, since the owner stored it on its side!No doubt that will cause some damage.

It looks like a Mk3 to me, there's a bit of work there!

Definitely a Mark 3, wiper motor cover, nose section, Metro subframes, etc.

I think the buy-it-now price is a bit optimistic though. Makes mine look like an absolute bargain.

I've just realised that this one isn't terribly far from me, maybe about 60 miles or so (location given as Aberfeldy).

I'm sorely tempted to go for a look see... :D

The buy it now is perhaps a bit steep, but if you could get this car for a few hundred quid, that wouldn't be bad. In parts alone it's worth more. Try ordering a new front bumper, that's at least 180 pounds. Then there are doors, doorframes, glass, subframes, engine, wheels. Add it all up and if you would buy this as loose parts for at least 600 pounds.

That's the way I'm thinking. However, if I were to win it, then I would need to sharpen my negotiation skills to persuade my partner that we need to keep a spare Midas under a tarpaulin on the drive...

You can clearly see the roof :? they didn't make a convertible in burgundy either, at least I've never seen one that colour. and I think I have 4 too many Midas in case you're wondering

Stuart, you may have 4 too many Midases, but do you have enough? :D

On further inspection I have to agree, the angle of the photographs fooled me, and I'm sticking to that excuse. Would that polish back to its original burgundy - expert opinion please!

I do need another Midas, of course.

(did I just say that?)
