Windscreen washer

Post by M.Ouvinen »

What car is the washer from? I've got a broken pump. Could it be Ford Fiesta? The washer fluid container is a Hella item and has german writing on it, and it seems like a standard unit... The build manual says it's a Lucas pump assembly, which seems weird, since mine is not, and it still looks like it belongs there.

I think if the pump is not included into the fluid container it is possible to take any external pump available. I´ve got a Lucas pump out of a Mini 1000 connected to a fluidcontainer out of a VW .

I started building my BRONZE Decathlon in 1989 and my washer came from a 1976 mini with the built in pump as per the instruction manual. Unbelievable as it may seem it still works ! Not bad after 35 years.

My build manual says it should be a Smiths T363 unit. Hella used to be an accessory manufacturer whereas Smiths were Original Mini fitment. Think it unlikely therefore that you will get a replacement pump. I'd change the setup based on roliroller's advice. See the picture attached to the post 'Bronze Battery'; thats what I had in mine. Having said that I went to a steam rally last weekend and I'm sure one of the Autojumble stands had some of those Mini units on it.
