Need a new starter motor
My starter motor sounds decidedly sick, although it is still doing it's job!
I have no doubt that if I search around in my garages I could find another 25 year old starter motor. But how reliable will this be? I don't want to be travelling in some far off land, and be caught short, so I think I should buy a new one!
I did a search on the Minispares site, but nothing jumped out for A plus starter motors. So does anyone have any experience of buying a new or possibly reconditioned starter motor?
Alan

Heck, add a few pennies to the price and you could get another whole new car
Re: Need a new starter motor
You are correct, the last two cars I bought for a total of £485, yes two cars!Stuart wrote:Heck, add a few pennies to the price and you could get another whole new car
But where are these Mini Marcos prices you keep promising us?!!

Not any time soon by the look of it.
I bet there are less than 5% of all Midas ever built currently on the road right now.

Re: Need a new starter motor
I was shocked at the price of a starter motor, which was going to be over a £100 delivered ( a new one not reconditioned) So I removed one from a spare engine and fitted it today. It worked a treat!!Stuart wrote:Heck, add a few pennies to the price and you could get another whole new car
So thank you to all the people who offered assistance, the job is now done!
All I can say is if you get the chance of buying in some Midas car stock, do it!!!
Thanks again Alan
Re: Need a new starter motor
You boys need to look at doing more things yourselves. Pre engaged starters can be rebuilt for less than £15 if you have a few core units around. Very easy, cheap and reliable.
BTW A decent rebuild one from me is £60 ex.

I agree with AC, the brushes on mine finally went, a local auto electrics company supplied a new set for about a tenner, it was an easy rebuild.
