Just calm down and wait, there may be a solution in the offing. It's not my solution but someone else's. I've not had time to look at the problem myself, as yet, but I've had thoughts about laser cutting an aluminum ring, but I don't know as yet what other fittings are involved. The headlights are easy to get, it's just the mounting rings. You could even make them in plywood if you put a bit of thought into it! You just need a bit of lateral thinking! But there are other people looking at the problem, so sit tight for the minute. If you decide to sell, you'll not even get your money back at the moment if it's not an MOTed and running car.

Another thought, I did spot a VW polo the other day, with what looked like a similar headlight arrangement to the MK 3. It sloped back a bit but would do! Maybe Stuart can find us a picture of the said Polo. He's very good at sniffing these things out!

If it's just a template you need, I'll take some photos and measurements at the weekend. I have a loose set in the garage. but in the meanwhile look at this and put your thinking cap on. It's a 2003- 2004 Polo GT, try and find one in the local scrapyard and while you are at it fit the engine as well!

Here is the headlight unit for a closer look.

They are not as I thought a single unit, but a double unit. The ones above are electrically adjusted. They are available from about £40. It may be that you can cut the light in half or you may be able to alter the Mk 3 front to take both lights. I'm just brain storming, but it's a start!
