I've now got 13 cheques and two local orders, so we have made it! I need to close off the orders on the 31st October and get them ordered and the job out of the way. I'm due in hospital at the back end of November for a bit of major surgery, so need it it all done and dusted before then, as I imagine I'll not feel very good for a few weeks after.

Hello All,

I've now got 22 orders and I am still awaiting straggling cheques, So I'm hoping for 25 orders in total. Never the less we will be closing this group buy on Monday 31st October 2011, never to be done again, by me anyway.

The state of play at the moment is that, I have cheques for 25 screens (including another one for myself). I'm waiting to hear from one more straggler. I then intend to bank the cheques about Monday 07/11/2011, so if anyone has any difficulties let me know. I think I have sent everyone an acknowledgment via email for your receipt of cheque, so if you have not had a personal email from myself and have sent a cheque let me know.

So this is the last time I will be doing this and I doubt if anyone else will take on such a task, so if you have any second thoughts, either to cancel or place a last minute order then please get in touch. You cannot say you have not been warned!

I will keep everyone updated as to the progress of the order via this website and hopefully the club email facility.

I just thought I would update everyone as to the progress.

I have 26 cheques in hand and I am awaiting one more late cheque, two people are paying by other methods, one more screen for my stock, so that is 30 screens altogether. Which is much more than I expected! My intention now is to bank the cheques later this week.When the cheques have cleared, I will place an order for 30 screens. So if anyone has any challenges with this let me know.

The lesson I have learned here and would pass it on to anyone contemplating doing a group buy in the future; is to set a deadline. People have procrastinated, so the deadline is the answer to get them moving!

Another thought I've had, is although most of the orders have come from the Midas forum, the clubs email link has produced about six orders! So these are people that had no idea that the Midas Forum existed. I'm pleased to say that some of these Midas owners are now viewing the Forum. So both of these methods of communication have been valuable! My thoughts now are that our little cars are at the bottom of the popularity stakes, so we we need to create enthusiasm by whatever means we can!

As an aside, I went to visit my mother this weekend and was faced with a 1.5 hour train journey home, so I purchased two magazines. One being "Kit Car" which I don't normally buy as most of the articles appear to be repeats, but in desperation I purchased a copy. The other was "Classic Car Mart".

"Kit Car" were trying to justify the situation at the recent "Stafford Kit Car Show" and had two reports within the magazine. They had photos all around the hall of everything, even photos of tool stalls, but no photos of our Midas's who were center stage in the main hall. But they did mention the Midas Club twice!

In contrast Classic Car Mart were doing one of these rust in peace articles, were somebody has discovered a number of old cars on a farm or in a barn. But in this case it was in the rear of a now defunct Tata dealer. The had a few kind words to say about a Mk1 saying that it's fiberglass body looks complete and would have made a great basis for a restoration. The car is available, if any one is interested is situated in Llanidloes, Powys, Which I'm guessing is in Welsh Wales!

Maybe Midas's are no longer exciting enough for the Kit car press! But Classic Car Mart, did say that Midas's were one of the best selling kit cars of the era! Sorry for the rant, just trying to fly the flag! I guess that people just don't know what we already know, regarding the quality of the body-shells!

I have received the last cheque in today's post, so I will be banking all of the cheques on Thursday as I going to the Classic Car show at the N.E.C. at the weekend. Is anyone else going?

That's sad news; to read that we are basically a bunch of dinosaurs. Anyway CKC is going to place a small article for me in which they ask who knows where the LHD moulds (the Rover 200 dash) of the Gold Convertible are. Possibly with a small picture of the yellow German Convertible.
