Number plate lamps

Post by DavidL »

I removed my rear bumper yesterday to get a better idea of where I'm going to bolt my towbar, and in the process of disconnecting the number plate lamps, managed to break off one of the terminals.

I've had a look in the Convertible build manual and can't find a reference; done a forum search and can't find any mention.

Can anyone tell me what vehicle had these lamps fitted as standard? An eBay search suggests it's not the Metro. However, the Austin Rover logo is visible in the lens, plus the number "4189".

I recall these being from the Montego, but on my Convertible I have units with a Ford logo, possibly mk1 or mk2 fiesta.

Montego was my first thought too, I can picture them on a Montego now, mind you I'd be very hard pushed to find a Montego round here to check.

I wonder if these are big enough http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Escort-m ... 5ae1c391ea

Slightly bigger will work as you can open the recess to fit, a fraction smaller and you may have wasted your money.

Hi,

Got a feeling that they were Maestro Van/Pov spec model number plate lamps.

Failing that try Range Rover Classic...

Thanks all. The Range Rover ones are different, although the Ford ones seem similar (still not identical though). It looks like I'll have to find a Rover dealer. My nearest one appears to have closed... :)

Thanks for the offer Barry, but I want to find out if they actually are the right ones first, rather than put you to the trouble of doing that, then finding out they don't fit!

I might still decide to take you up on that, though. I'll let you know. :)

I believe they are from an allegro.

I have 'uprated' mine to fiesta mk3 ones which are better made.
