Post by Hans Efde »

Arie vd Krans is selling his BRG Gold coupe. This is a very special car, it was the second on the EU mainland and the first in Holland. It is factory built and originally LHD! He is asking 7500 euro for it. This is what I received from him:

It is a familiar car within the Midas community because Arie used to drive to meetings regularly. Only bad thing is that it is the only Midas with an ashtray, installed by Arie himself.

I will put an ad on my website the coming week, but I know a few people on this forum are looking for one so I'll give it a few days.

Hi Hans,

Great looking Car !

What´s the origin of the rear light? I think a blue Belgian Coupe had the same type, that was for sale earlier.

Hi,

It's a shame Arie is leaving the fold he's a nice chap his car always looked great when he trekked over to the UK.

The lights we're early prototypes made by Charlie Dodd I seem to remember someone from the Club picking up the moulds and remaining supplies at Stoneleigh a few years back when his wife Rose embarked on the huge task of clearing out Charlies garage after he passed away.

Cheers,

Mike

The lights on Arie's car were a project from Charlie Dodd. The lights on the grey Belgium car are one offs from Joris Droste. He used after market Subaru Impreza lights. There is a story from him in one of the club mags I edited.

The lights themselves are called hamburger lights:

Nice looking car that! Interesting exhaust placement

I wonder if the round rear lights on the FIAT Coupe would fit? They would certainly look good.

You can buy standard Hella lights that fit in.
Rip these apart and put the lights in a plug:

Or buy the standard parts (also on Pagani cars):

I did a bit of photoshopping:

(not sure if these were Ferrari)

But it's very expensive, so I bought a set of smart roadster lights:

When the car is on the road again it will be a nice project to see if I can get these to fit.

I have Charlie's original fitting lights 9 (two sets) and the surrounds, but I don't have the moulds. But a mould could be taken off the surrounds that I have. I personally don't like the beefburger lights, so if anyone wants to make me an offer for the two sets.
