NEC Classic car show 16,17,18th November

Post by Stuart »

The best car show of the year. Expensive, but a very good day out, or full weekend if you're fit enough.

Will we see a Midas on display I wonder?

Worth noting that parking is now £10 at the NEC

But only £5 a day at the weekend in the station car park, which is just as close to the NEC as their own car parks.

I will be there for all three days with my AC 3000ME. I've never displayed a car at an event like this, so at the moment I'm not sure if it's going to be fun, or if it will get a bit tedious. It will give me plenty of time to look at everything else though.

My fears that three days at the NEC might get a bit tedious were not matched by the experience - the days flew past. I thought I'd have plenty of time to look round the rest of the show, but in the end probably saw less than if I'd just been a visitor for a day. It was nice to see Alan and Tony on Saturday.

When you are showing a car you barely get a chance to see all round. Good to hear you had a good show all the same. Looks like a Piper across the way from your car. Nice

I've always liked the look of the Piper GTT, but having squeezed myself into the yellow car in the picture I've established that it would be physically impossible for me to drive it. I had to put my feet under the adjustable pedals just to get in, and even if the pedal box had enough forward travel to allow my feet onto the pedals, the dash is so low that I couldn't bend my knees enough to operate the clutch or brake. It's a very tight fit.

Some very good photos of the show here, see if you can spot Alan.
