Sounds like yours are the early ones David. The later ones are bits of plate with a threaded square bar in the middle. Them there was the lovely ones Alan and Stuart conceived. Personally I think there's is the best.

Mine could well have been on the car when it was built in January 1989 - does that help to identify them?
Are the second version you mention the ones that came from GTM? I hadn't heard of Alan and Stuart's version - unless those are the simple extended stub-axle type...
I've recently obtained a couple from Alistair which his suppliers had welded up incorrectly, and I still have to try and split them and re-weld, but work has once more intervened, so they are way down on my current to-do list.

Yes Alans and Stuarts are the stubs. Lovely solution to the problem I think.
Yes '89 sounds like early ones.

Are my damper brackets the original ones? I know they're not Charlie's, but if they're original they've survived a huge mileage...

I'm not completely sure, but I think those could be GTM ones.

These are the best brackets, far superior over the original Midas ones (can't comment on Charlie's brackets since I have never seen them). It's a shame to let them rot because you won't find new ones and they look complicated to make. I gave mine some TLC a few years ago:
