No idea Stuart. I did find this page: http://www.hydragas.co.uk/tech/r6.html which gives the part numbers. I'd have expected them to be similar, but they're completely different - although I suppose they might be from different manufacturers.

You have to be careful with rear gas units as there are more than one type, and it is not just the damper effect for turbos and later cars/MG's.
There is a physical difference between earlier ones and later ones.
How do I know? Because I fitted the wrong replacement one when I had a metro van and broke the union....which was in a different position.
Turned out there were several part numbers for the rears showing up on the microfiche. Same on the fronts too. Metro police cars had separate part numbers too..........
Obviously I am talking A series Metros here.
