I found this ad:

No pics, seems to be damaged. BRG is quite rare for the convertible, 950pounds asking price.

It's gone! Ad no longer available.
(edit) My mistake, it's still there - I'd followed the first link, then realised the second one was different.

Re: Glasgow BRG Gold convertible for sale
Turbo engines fetch very good money.
Or you could replace the engine with this really cheap one

Re: Glasgow BRG Gold convertible for sale
That may seem expensive, but overhauling an engine isn't cheap. I just got the invoice of my engine. It needs a new head, new camshaft, oil pump etc. Block is fine, but the crankshaft will be ground, new bearings, plates etc. Gearbox, flywheel and pressure plate were all fine. Total cost around 1300 euro's.
Possibly someone wants to exchange my low compression pistons with new high compression ones.
We are used to buying scrap engines for 50 pounds (although in Holland they ask 150 euro's for a standard 1200cc, if you can still find them!), but if you want a decent refurbished engine that's what it could cost.
Luckily I sold many parts of my turbo engine and the MED head (new 900 pounds) will be refurbished as well and sold for around 600 euro's. I am going to exchange the s/c idler gear for a second hand normal set. For this the shop will give me a discount, so in total my new engine will cost around 300 euro.

Hans, is this a 7 port head? If so, I might be interested, if you haven't already sold it...Hans Efde wrote:Luckily I sold many parts of my turbo engine and the MED head (new 900 pounds) will be refurbished as well and sold for around 600 euro's.

No, it's this one:
http://www.med-engineering.co.uk/bespok ... inder-head
It's useless for a high compression, so it had to go.

Ah well, it wouldn't have any appeal for me then. I plan to stay naturally aspirated!Hans Efde wrote:No, it's this one:

Good luck with the sale.
Re: Glasgow BRG Gold convertible for sale
Yep that's the best. In 2009 I went with Ed Darwinkel to Stoneleigh so we had plenty of opportunity to compare our cars and engines. He has a standard 1275 with a few small mods and double carbs with airbox. When we both hit the pedal his car just speared away while my car was struggling for a few seconds. Then mine just catapulted forward and caught up in an instant. Completely unusable and the mpg was aweful. But that's what you get with a low compression turbo engine. Keep it above 4000rpm and it wins races, but in traffic it's pretty boring and frequently annoying. I can't wait when my new engine bursts into life.faceofdoh wrote:I plan to stay naturally aspirated!
Re: Glasgow BRG Gold convertible for sale
Hi Folks,
It's myself who is selling this car and I still have it for sale. Realistically I am hoping to get £700 for it, but had advertised it up a bit to give some negotiating room. If anyone is interested please let me know and feel free to ask any questions you have.
Cheers
Barry
