Can they be removed?
I'm stripling down my rear arms but one hub but is spinning on the stub axle ( thread stripped) and won't come off, the stub axle is knackered as a result so I'm happy to drill the but off to save the hub but can the stub axles be replaced?
This is on a rover metro subframe.
Cheers

Re: stub axle
Yes they press out towards the centre of the car, however you may find a complete new arm easier to source.

Left hand thread by the look of it on the nearside just like the Austin version, but slightly different thread and nut retention method.

Re: stub axle

ooops, that explains why it was so tight
so if i drill the nut off i can just drift it out?

Re: stub axle
You can drift them out, whether or not it'll be that easy whilst still on the car I don't know. Difficult I imagine.
I think the handbrake bracket is just in the way also.

Re: stub axle
Cheers for that, this is a spare subframe that is virtually stripped, the only thing left on this particular trailing arm is the hub and backplate, if needed I can press the shaft out, mind you it does indeed look like new ones are cheap enough.
