Why talking about tyre-sizes that are no longer available? At least I found no ones in germany...

Hi David,
With nervous I did not mean that's it's all over the road. It's just that the car instantaneously reacts to the input from the steering wheel. I like it! I think it is a positive feature over the fatter tyres, but no everyone will agree. Concerning the rubbing, it's not on the edge of the arches but somewhere inside. I haven't checked where. I am not sure how the offset can influence the interference. These wheels were the standard for Midas Gold coupees. I have to say my Dynamic wheels are a bonus of this car. They have some damage but are worth repairing (if I haven't sold the car).

It's just that I was surprised that the 175/50 have such different behaviour and allow much tighter cornering. If you can live with the slightly higher revving on the highway the 175/50 are the best tyres. I like the 175/50s, and the Autobahn is not really the territory of the Midas so I'm ok with the higher revs needed...
I searched a lot for the good ol' 165/60's, and maybe some shops have some, but the producing stops and so it's better to find a alternative now...even ones in stock get old and I'm not sure when the last ones were made...

Like Geoff I bought a set of some 165/65 x 13 tyres for my Midas Gold Coupe today and I can happily report they don't rub. Probably right up on the limit as far as they can go though.They don't seem to have wide shoulders which might explain why they are OK.
These are fitted on a standard ride height car.
Make of tyre is Avon CR322's

Might be worth doing a list of known working brand and size of tyre with backspace working combinations.
The backspace I was using today was 115mm.

When I tried to buy a pair of 175 50 13 Yokos recently, all my local tyre places said there were only two tyres left in the country!
Now either there's a massive tyre company conspiracy going on, or they all get their tyres from one importer.
I bought mine online from Minispares instead, they had plenty of stock as they are their own importer, and when p+p, fitting and balancing were included, they were still cheaper than buying from my locals tyre shops!
