Cam chain and tensioner

Post by Moneypit »

The 1275 metro engine in the Midas rattles a bit. Tonight , with the top down, it was kind of loud to the point of annoying.I could just turn the radio up ;) (cheapest and quickest short term solution) but think I'd best sort it before something terminal occurs. I reackon it's the timing chain and/or tensioner. It looks an easy enough job with the engine in but was just wondering if anybody has any hints or tips? Many thanks

Tappets?
A lot easier to check than the chain tensioner. :)
